Overview

Ochsner Health System is seeking a CT Technologist in Gulfport, Mississippi, responsible for assessing patients and performing routine CT procedures while ensuring adherence to radiation safety protocols. The role requires the individual to act as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students, contributing positively to the healthcare team's commitment to innovation and patient care.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess patients and perform routine CT procedures in accordance with safety protocols.
  • Verify physician orders and ensure accuracy of procedures.
  • Independently operate CT equipment and complete imaging procedures.
  • Review patient images for diagnostic quality before transmission.
  • Facilitate departmental operations including scheduling and equipment maintenance.
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding and comfort.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with regulatory standards.

Required skills

  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or registry eligible
  • CT certified or eligible within 90 days of employment
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Windows-style applications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to adapt to patient needs
  • General knowledge of cardiac anatomy and Doppler physics
  • Capacity to work independently and under pressure
