Overview

As a CT Technologist at Ochsner Health System, you will assess patients and perform routine CT procedures while ensuring compliance with radiation safety protocols. This role also involves mentoring junior staff and students, reflecting Ochsner's commitment to professional development and patient care.

Key responsibilities

  • Verify physician orders and procedures for accuracy
  • Utilize radiology information systems to facilitate patient care
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Independently operate equipment to complete imaging procedures
  • Review patient images to ensure they meet diagnostic quality standards
  • Assist in departmental operations such as inventory and staff scheduling
  • Adapt communication style to specific patient populations
  • Remain knowledgeable about laws and accreditation standards

Required skills

  • Formal training in Radiologic Technology
  • Registered by ARRT
  • Licensed by the Louisiana State Radiology Technology Board
  • Advanced certification in CT required within 2 years
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association
  • Proficient with Windows-style applications and data entry
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language
