Overview

The CT Technologist at Ochsner Westbank plays a crucial role in patient care by conducting routine CT procedures while ensuring compliance with safety protocols. This position also serves as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students, contributing to the development of others in the field of radiologic technology.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess patients and perform routine CT procedures according to prescribed protocols.
  • Verify physician orders and procedures for accuracy.
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure their understanding.
  • Operate imaging equipment independently and perform quality control procedures.
  • Assist in departmental operations, including inventory and scheduling.
  • Adapt communication and behavior to meet the needs of different patient populations.
  • Remain knowledgeable of current laws, standards, and compliance requirements.

Required skills

  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Licensed by the Louisiana State Radiology Technology Board of Examiners
  • Advanced certification in CT within 2 years of employment
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association
  • Proficiency with Windows-style applications and data entry
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language
