Overview

The CT Technologist at Ochsner West Bank's Emergency Department in Marrero is responsible for assessing patients and performing routine CT procedures while ensuring adherence to radiation safety protocols. This position also serves as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students, contributing to the development of a dedicated healthcare team.

Key responsibilities

  • Verify physician orders and procedures for accuracy
  • Utilize radiology information systems to facilitate care
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Independently operate imaging equipment according to protocols
  • Review patient images to ensure they meet diagnostic quality standards
  • Complete timely quality control procedures per regulatory standards
  • Assist in departmental operations such as inventory and staff schedules
  • Adapt communication style and behavior to meet patient needs
  • Report any compliance concerns or ethical issues

Required skills

  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Licensed by the Louisiana State Radiology Technology Board of Examiners
  • Advanced certification in CT within two years of employment
  • Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association
  • Proficient in Windows-style applications and data entry
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
