Job Description

Overview

The CT Technologist at Ochsner Health System in Kenner is responsible for assessing patients and performing routine CT procedures in line with radiation safety protocols. This role also includes serving as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students, ensuring that high-quality imaging standards are met and supporting the operational needs of the department.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess patients and perform routine CT procedures in accordance with safety protocols
  • Act as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students
  • Verify physician orders and ensure accuracy before procedures
  • Utilize radiology information systems to facilitate patient care
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Independently operate CT equipment and perform imaging procedures
  • Review patient images to meet diagnostic quality standards
  • Complete quality control procedures in line with regulatory standards
  • Assist in departmental operations including inventory and equipment maintenance

Required skills

  • Completion of an approved Radiologic Technology program
  • CT experience preferred
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or registry eligible
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Windows applications and radiology software
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • General knowledge of cardiac anatomy and Doppler physics
