Overview

The CT Technologist at Ochsner Health System is responsible for assessing patients and performing routine CT procedures according to prescribed safety protocols. This role also includes mentoring junior staff and students, ensuring quality control in imaging procedures, and facilitating departmental operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Verify physician orders and procedures for accuracy
  • Explain procedures to patients for understanding
  • Independently operate imaging equipment according to protocols
  • Review patient images for diagnostic quality
  • Complete quality control procedures timely
  • Assist in departmental operations like inventory and staff scheduling
  • Adapt communication and behavior to meet patient population needs
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant laws and standards

Required skills

  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • CT registry eligible within one year
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Windows and specific software packages
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language
  • Ability to work independently and calmly under pressure
  • Current unrestricted license in the state of practice
