Job Description

Overview

The CT Technologist at Ochsner Health System is responsible for assessing patients and performing routine CT procedures while adhering to radiation safety protocols. This role also involves mentoring junior staff and students, ensuring both care quality and education within the team.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess patients and perform routine CT procedures according to safety protocols.
  • Act as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students.
  • Verify physician orders to assure accuracy.
  • Operate imaging equipment independently according to protocol.
  • Review patient images to ensure diagnostic quality.
  • Complete quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Assist in departmental operations including inventory and equipment maintenance.
  • Explain procedures to patients, ensuring their understanding.

Required skills

  • Completion of an approved Radiologic Technology program.
  • CT experience preferred.
  • Registered by the ARRT or eligible within 90 days of employment.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Windows applications and data entry.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
