Overview

Ochsner Health System is seeking a full-time CT Technologist for their Metairie, Louisiana location. This role is essential in assessing patients and safely performing routine CT procedures while ensuring compliance with prescribed radiation safety protocols. The technologist will also take on the responsibility of mentoring junior staff and students, contributing to the education and development of the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess patients and safely perform routine CT procedures
  • Verify physician orders and ensure accuracy
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Independently operate equipment following protocols
  • Review patient images to ensure diagnostic quality standards
  • Assist in departmental operations, including inventory and staff schedules
  • Mentor junior staff and students

Required skills

  • Completion of an approved Radiologic Technology program
  • CT experience preferred
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or registry eligible
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Windows-style applications and role-specific software
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and in a self-directed manner
  • General knowledge of cardiac anatomy and hemodynamics
