Overview

The CT Technologist at Ochsner Health System in Marrero will collaborate with staff radiologists to assess patients and perform routine CT procedures while adhering to safety protocols. This role also includes clinical mentorship for junior staff and students, emphasizing quality patient care and precision in imaging.

Key responsibilities

  • Verify physician orders and procedures for accuracy
  • Operate CT imaging equipment independently per protocol
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Review patient images for diagnostic quality
  • Complete quality control procedures in accordance with standards
  • Facilitate departmental operations including inventory and staff scheduling
  • Adapt communication and behavior to various patient populations
  • Stay informed on compliance with laws and regulatory standards

Required skills

  • Completion of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology program
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Licensed by the Louisiana State Radiology Technology Board of Examiners
  • Advanced certification in CT within 2 years of employment
  • Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association
  • Proficient in Windows-style applications and data entry
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language
