Overview

The CT Technologist at Ochsner Health System will assess patients and safely perform routine CT procedures while adhering to radiation safety protocols. This role includes mentoring junior staff and students, ensuring high-quality patient care and departmental operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Verify physician order and procedure accuracy
  • Utilize radiology information systems for patient care
  • Explain procedures to patients for understanding
  • Independently operate imaging equipment
  • Review patient images for diagnostic quality
  • Complete quality control procedures timely
  • Assist with departmental operations including inventory and equipment maintenance
  • Adapt communication and behavior to specific patient populations
  • Remain knowledgeable of compliance with laws and regulations

Required skills

  • Completion of a formal training program in Radiologic Technology
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Licensed by the Louisiana State Radiology Technology Board
  • Advanced certification in CT within 2 years of employment
  • Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association
  • Computer skills for data entry and retrieval
  • Proficient with Windows-style applications and specific software for role
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language
