Job Description

Overview

As a CT Technologist at Ochsner Health System, you will be responsible for assessing patients and performing routine CT procedures in collaboration with staff radiologists, while adhering to safety protocols. This role also involves mentoring junior staff and students, contributing to a culture of care and innovation within the healthcare team.

Key responsibilities

  • Verify physician orders and procedures for accuracy
  • Utilize radiology information systems to facilitate patient care
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Independently operate equipment to complete imaging procedures
  • Review patient images prior to transmission for diagnostic quality
  • Perform quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards
  • Assist in departmental operations, including inventory management and equipment maintenance
  • Adapt communication style to the specific patient population
  • Comply with compliance and privacy standards

Required skills

  • Completion of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology program
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Licensed by the Louisiana State Radiology Technology Board of Examiners
  • Advanced certification in CT within 2 years of employment
  • Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association
  • Proficient with Windows-style applications and data entry
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language
