Overview

The CT Technologist at Ochsner Health System will be responsible for assessing patients and performing routine CT procedures, ensuring compliance with radiation safety protocols. This role involves collaboration with staff radiologists and includes mentoring junior staff and students in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess patients and perform routine CT procedures
  • Verify physician orders and procedures for accuracy
  • Utilize radiology information systems for patient care
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Independently operate equipment and complete imaging procedures
  • Review patient images for diagnostic quality standards
  • Conduct timely quality control procedures according to regulatory standards
  • Assist in departmental operations including inventory and equipment maintenance
  • Adapt communication style and behavior to different patient populations
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations

Required skills

  • Completion of a formal Radiologic Technology training program
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Licensed by the Louisiana State Radiology Technology Board of Examiners
  • Advanced certification in CT within 2 years of employment
  • Current Basic Life Support certification
  • Computer skills for data entry and retrieval
  • Proficiency with Windows-style applications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language
