Job Description

Overview

The CT Technologist at Ochsner Health System is responsible for assessing patients and performing routine CT procedures while adhering to radiation safety protocols. This role also includes clinical mentoring of junior staff and students, contributing to the overall patient care experience in a healthcare setting.

Key responsibilities

  • Verify physician order and procedure for accuracy
  • Utilize radiology information systems to facilitate patient care
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Independently operate imaging equipment according to protocols
  • Review patient images for diagnostic quality before transmission
  • Complete quality control procedures in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Assist with departmental operations, including inventory and staff schedules
  • Adapt communication and behavior to specific patient populations
  • Perform related duties as required

Required skills

  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • ARRT registration in radiography and/or NMTCB certification
  • Advanced certification in CT within two years of employment
  • Ability to operate CT imaging equipment
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer skills, including proficiency with Windows applications
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and Doppler physics
