Job Description

Overview

The CT Technologist at Ochsner Health System is responsible for assessing patients and safely performing routine CT procedures following radiation safety protocols. This role also includes mentoring junior staff and students while ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care in a clinical setting.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess patients and perform routine CT procedures according to protocols
  • Mentor junior staff and students in clinical practices
  • Verify physician orders and ensure procedure accuracy
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Operate imaging equipment independently and review patient images for quality
  • Facilitate departmental operations including inventory and equipment maintenance
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and institutional policies

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Clinical CT experience preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Current unrestricted state license in radiography
  • Computer skills for data entry and software applications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and cardiac anatomy
