Overview

The CT Technologist at Ochsner Health System is responsible for assessing patients and performing routine CT procedures while adhering to radiation safety protocols. This role also involves mentoring junior staff and students, ensuring patient care quality, and facilitating departmental operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess patients and perform CT procedures according to safety protocols
  • Act as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students
  • Verify physician orders and procedures for accuracy
  • Explain procedures to patients for their understanding
  • Independently operate imaging equipment
  • Review patient images for diagnostic quality
  • Complete quality control procedures in line with regulatory standards
  • Assist with departmental operations including inventory and equipment maintenance
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with regulatory standards

Required skills

  • Experience in CT scanning and patient assessment
  • Knowledge of radiation safety procedures
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Certification as a radiologic technologist
  • Computer skills and experience with data entry and software applications
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to function without direct supervision
  • General knowledge of cardiac anatomy and hemodynamics
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment
