Job Description

Overview

The CT Technologist at Ochsner Health System is responsible for assessing patients and performing routine computed tomography procedures in compliance with radiation safety procedures. This role also includes serving as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students, contributing to patient care, and ensuring high standards of diagnostic quality in imaging.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess patients and perform computed tomography procedures
  • Verify physician orders and ensure procedure accuracy
  • Independently operate imaging equipment according to protocols
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Review patient images for diagnostic quality
  • Complete quality control procedures according to regulations
  • Assist in departmental operations such as inventory and staff scheduling
  • Adapt behavior and communication to respect patient privacy and needs
  • Stay knowledgeable on relevant laws and accreditation standards

Required skills

  • Completion of an approved radiologic technology program
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Proficiency in computers and software applications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language
  • Ability to work under pressure and self-direct
  • Understanding of cardiac anatomy and Doppler physics
