Overview

The CT Tech at Ochsner Health System is responsible for assessing patients and performing routine CT procedures while adhering to radiation safety protocols. This role includes clinical mentorship for junior staff and students, with a strong emphasis on patient communication and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess patients and perform routine CT procedures safely
  • Serve as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students
  • Verify physician orders and procedure accuracy
  • Operate imaging equipment according to protocols
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Review patient images for diagnostic quality
  • Complete quality control procedures
  • Facilitate departmental operations such as inventory and equipment maintenance
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and standards

Required skills

  • Completion of an approved Radiologic Technology program
  • CT experience preferred
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • CT registry eligible or registered within 90 days of employment
  • Temporary state license and current BLS certification required
  • Computer skills for data entry and information retrieval
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with software packages specific to the role
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language
  • Ability to work with strict confidentiality and under pressure
  • General knowledge of cardiac anatomy and related procedures
