Overview

The CT Tech at Ochsner Health System is responsible for assessing patients and performing routine CT procedures while adhering to prescribed safety protocols. The role also includes mentoring junior staff and students, ensuring quality control, and maintaining departmental operations. This position is essential in providing quality patient care and requires effective communication and technical skills.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess patients and perform routine CT procedures
  • Mentor junior staff and students
  • Utilize radiology information systems for patient care
  • Explain procedures to patients for understanding
  • Operate equipment to complete imaging procedures
  • Review patient images for diagnostic quality
  • Complete quality control procedures
  • Facilitate departmental operations, including inventory and staff schedules
  • Maintain knowledge of compliance with laws and regulations

Required skills

  • Completion of an approved Radiologic Technology program
  • CT experience preferred
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • CT registry eligible within one year
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Computer skills for data entry and information retrieval
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Windows applications
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
