Overview

The CT Tech at Ochsner Health System is responsible for assessing patients and performing routine CT procedures according to radiation safety protocols. This position also serves as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students, emphasizing the commitment to patient care and professional development.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess patients and perform routine CT procedures safely
  • Verify physician orders and ensure procedure accuracy
  • Utilize radiology information systems to facilitate patient care
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Independently operate imaging equipment according to protocols
  • Review patient images for diagnostic quality
  • Complete quality control procedures as per regulatory standards
  • Assist in departmental operations such as inventory and staff scheduling
  • Adhere to compliance and privacy standards

Required skills

  • Completion of an approved Radiologic Technology program
  • CT experience preferred
  • ARRT certification (Radiologic Technologists)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Computer skills for data entry and information retrieval
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Windows-style applications
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure
  • Flexibility in work duties and schedule
