Job Description

Overview

UAB Medicine is seeking a Certified Respiratory Therapist to join the Respiratory Therapy team at UAB St. Vincent's in Birmingham, Alabama. This role involves providing essential care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies and plays a vital role in improving patient outcomes across the hospital.

Key responsibilities

  • Evaluate and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies
  • Assess patients for appropriate treatment and develop care plans
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans and equipment
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition
  • Perform advanced respiratory care modalities
  • Evaluate respiratory practices and medication administration based on patient outcomes
  • Educate patients and families about health conditions and available programs
  • Assist with care, calibration, and maintenance of all equipment
  • Maintain departmental inventory levels for supplies and equipment
  • Respond to emergency resuscitation team calls

Required skills

  • BLS Provider certification
  • Licensed Respiratory Therapist credential from Alabama
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist credential from NBRC
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy
