Job Description

Overview

UAB Medicine is seeking a Certified Respiratory Therapist to provide care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies at UAB St. Vincent's East. The role involves evaluating patient needs, developing care plans, and monitoring treatment in a full-time night shift capacity.

Key responsibilities

  • Evaluate and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies
  • Assess patients for appropriate treatment and develop care plans
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans and equipment
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition
  • Perform advanced respiratory care modalities
  • Evaluate respiratory practices and treatment based on patient outcomes
  • Educate patients and families about health conditions and support resources
  • Assist with care, calibration, and maintenance of equipment
  • Maintain departmental inventory levels for supplies and equipment
  • Respond to emergency resuscitation team calls

Required skills

  • BLS Provider certification
  • Licensed Respiratory Therapist credential from the Alabama Board of Respiratory Therapy
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy
