What this job involves As an Assistant Chief Engineer for Data Center Facilities at JLL, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of mission-critical data center environments. You will work closely with the leadership to oversee facility operations, manage technical teams, and implement strategies to optimize performance, reliability, and efficiency of data center infrastructure.Your day-to-day tasks will include Assisting in the management and coordination of data center facility operations and maintenance activitiesSupervising and mentoring technical staff, including engineers, technicians, and contractorsMonitoring and analyzing critical systems performance, including power, cooling, and network infrastructureDeveloping and implementing preventive maintenance schedules and proceduresCollaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with safety, security, and regulatory requirementsParticipating in capacity planning and infrastructure upgrade projectsResponding to and managing critical incidents and emergency situationsPreparing technical reports, documentation, and presentations for management and clientsRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED equivalentMinimum of 5 years of experience in data center operations and managementStrong knowledge of data center infrastructure, including power distribution, cooling systems, and network architectureFamiliarity with industry standards and best practices (e.g., ASHRAE, TIA, Uptime Institute)Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skillsStrong leadership and team management abilitiesProficiency in using facility management software and building automation systemsValid certification in at least one relevant area (e.g., CDCP, DCPRO, or equivalent)Physical Demands and Work Environment:Frequent walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, stooping, and working/extending overheadLifting a minimum of 50 lbs regularlyClimbing stairs and navigating rooftops to access equipmentUsing ladders up to 30 ft and working from heightsAbility to climb a ladder with a 300-lb weight limitMust be able to work different schedulesMust be able to work holidaysMust be able to respond to site emergenciesMust be able to be on the on-call rotationPreferred:Previous military experience including Army Prime Power, Navy ET/Nuke, or Air Force HVAC/Power Pro ElectricianCorrigo experience for work order and maintenance managementServiceNow experience for ticketing and workflow managementModerate knowledge of manual trades such as carpentry and electromechanical repairWorking knowledge or capability to develop proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and other recommended software packagesMulti-site data center management experienceThis position does not provide visa sponsorship.
