Overview

Mariposa Gardening & Design Cooperative is seeking a Crew Lead to oversee the daily construction processes of garden installations in Oakland, California. This full-time role emphasizes ecological practices and requires motivation to help grow the company and potentially become a Worker-Owner.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure ecological practices are central to all installations
  • Oversee daily construction processes and manage installation crews
  • Provide progress reports during manager meetings
  • Fix and prioritize unexpected issues in the field
  • Conduct technical training on irrigation and plant maintenance
  • Organize job sites and manage tools and deliveries
  • Open and close the site daily to maintain workflow
  • Guide team tasks and conduct regular employee reviews
  • Care for plants from delivery to installation
  • Enforce OSHA regulations and lead weekly safety meetings
  • Lead diversity training and maintain a safe workspace

Required skills

  • 3+ years of Crew Leading experience in landscape construction
  • Ability to lift 30-50 lbs regularly
  • Experience in irrigation, flagstone setting, hand grading, and plant maintenance
  • Project management experience
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusivity
  • Valid CA driver's license
  • Smartphone
