Job Description

Overview

The GEO Group is hiring motivated individuals to join their team as Correctional Officers at the Florence West Correctional & Rehabilitation Facility. This role is centered on supervising and caring for inmates, ensuring adherence to rules and policies while contributing to a professional environment focused on rehabilitation and community support.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor inmates in various areas
  • Coordinate inmate movement and conduct counts
  • Ensure safety during program activities and supervise labor crews
  • Conduct shakedowns for contraband and confiscate prohibited items
  • Keep daily logs on inmates, including disciplinary reports
  • Provide assistance to injured or ill individuals
  • Report maintenance or repair needs to maintain facility cleanliness

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Training in behavioral sciences or correctional services preferred
  • Cultural diversity or sensitivity training preferred
  • Valid state driver's license
  • Ability to work overtime and handle physical and mental stress
  • Experience in a correctional setting preferred
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
