Overview

The GEO Group is seeking motivated individuals to join their growing team as Correctional Officers in Pensacola, Florida. This role involves overseeing and caring for inmates, ensuring adherence to rules and policies while providing support and safety within the facility. With paid on-the-job training, this position offers an opportunity for professional growth within criminal justice and corrections.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor inmates in various areas
  • Coordinate inmate movement and conduct counts
  • Ensure safety during program activities and supervise labor crews
  • Conduct shakedowns for contraband and confiscate prohibited items
  • Maintain daily logs on inmates and report disciplinary actions
  • Provide assistance to injured or ill inmates
  • Report maintenance or repair needs to keep the facility clean

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification
  • Experience or training in behavioral sciences and correctional services preferred
  • Cultural diversity or sensitivity training preferred
  • Pass the Florida Basic Abilities Test (FBAT)
  • Valid state driver's license
  • Ability to handle physical and mental stress
  • Maturity and flexibility in dealing with inmates and staff
  • Work experience in a correctional setting preferred
