Job Description

Overview

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Corporate Controller to join their client, a company specializing in residential and commercial real estate, located in Hamilton, Ontario. This role involves overseeing financial operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, and team management.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and review consolidated financial statements.
  • Develop and maintain financial models for forecasting and budgeting.
  • Oversee intercompany accounting and reconciliations.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Analyze financial metrics, variances, and KPIs for senior management.
  • Standardize reporting processes across multiple legal entities.
  • Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals.
  • Support external audits and liaise with auditors.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Finance on budgeting and financial planning.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and best practices.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or Finance
  • CPA (Canada/U.S.) or ACCA (UK) preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • 3-5 years in consolidated reporting
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE
  • Experience with multi-entity consolidation and financial systems
  • Proficiency in creating financial models
  • Leadership and analytical skills
  • Communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
