Overview

The University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources is seeking a Cooperative Extension Area 4-H Youth Development Advisor to serve Lassen, Modoc, and Siskiyou Counties. This role involves developing and delivering youth development programs, emphasizing outdoor education and community engagement, while conducting applied research to enhance 4-H opportunities for young people in the region.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver the UCCE 4-H Youth Development extension and research programs.
  • Create meaningful youth development opportunities for young people.
  • Collaborate with other 4-H personnel to implement various program delivery models.
  • Conduct applied research to address community challenges and improve youth programs.
  • Provide academic oversight and educational leadership to county-based 4-H staff and volunteers.
  • Cultivate strong community and academic networks to support youth development.
  • Publish research results and share them through various channels like newsletters and webinars.

Required skills

  • Master's degree in youth/child development, human development, education, or a related field.
  • Experience in conducting applied research and program evaluation.
  • Strong leadership and program management skills.
  • Ability to travel and hold a valid California Driver's License.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and ability to work with diverse clientele.
