Overview

The University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources is seeking a Cooperative Extension 4-H Youth Development Advisor for Workforce Development to serve Tulare, Fresno, and Kings counties. The role focuses on developing and delivering programs that provide youth with personal development opportunities and prepare them for workforce and career paths through applied research and educational practices.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver programs that support youth in workforce and career pathway development.
  • Conduct applied research and extension activities to address community challenges.
  • Create opportunities for youth engagement in agriculture, technology, and STEAM fields.
  • Provide academic oversight and leadership to county-based 4-H staff and educators.
  • Establish partnerships with workforce investment boards, economic development groups, and school districts.
  • Evaluate youth development programs related to workforce readiness.
  • Disseminate information through various media, including workshops, social media, and publications.

Required skills

  • Master's degree in relevant fields such as youth education, workforce development, or agricultural science.
  • Experience in conducting applied research and education programs with youth.
  • Strong leadership and program management skills.
  • Ability to create partnerships with community stakeholders.
  • Communication skills in written, oral, and interpersonal formats; Spanish proficiency is desired.
  • Valid California Driver's License and ability to travel as needed.
