Job Description

Overview

SSP Canada is seeking a Cook 1 for their location at Spinnakers Victoria Airport in North Saanich, British Columbia. This position offers the opportunity to start a culinary career in a unique environment while providing quality food service at the airport. Cooks will follow recipes, maintain kitchen organization, and ensure food safety standards are met.

Key responsibilities

  • Follow recipes and check portion sizes and garnishes for dishes
  • Set up and maintain workstations and kitchen organization
  • Handle, store, and rotate food products properly
  • Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of kitchen equipment
  • Supply stocks and manage cutting and storage of perishable goods
  • Complete opening and closing control sheets as required
  • Clean and organize utensils and storage areas
  • Practice hygiene and cleanliness standards as directed by management
  • Communicate effectively with managers and team members

Required skills

  • Minimum one year experience in food service
  • Ability to follow recipes and use kitchen equipment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Food handlers permit as required by law
  • Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods
  • Ability to obtain Transport Canada security clearance
  • English language proficiency
