Job Description

Overview

SSP Canada is looking for a Cook 1 to join their team at Spinnakers Victoria Airport in North Saanich, BC. This role supports the culinary services within a unique airport environment, where the individual will be responsible for food preparation and maintaining the kitchen's operational standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Follow recipes and check portion sizes and garnishes for dishes
  • Set up and maintain a clean and organized kitchen work station
  • Handle, store, and rotate stored products properly
  • Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of kitchen equipment
  • Manage the supply and storage of perishable goods
  • Complete control sheets for kitchen operations as requested
  • Ensure all utensils used are cleaned and organized post-shift
  • Practice hygiene standards and adhere to cleanup protocols
  • Take instructions and stock checks from the manager

Required skills

  • Minimum one year experience in a food service environment
  • Ability to follow basic recipes and utilize kitchen equipment
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Food handlers permit as required by law
  • Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for extended periods
  • Ability to obtain Transport Canada security clearance
