Job Description

Overview

The Controls Manager at Amazon Data Services is responsible for the deployment and service of building management systems (BMS) and electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS) within Amazon data centers. This role requires strong leadership skills and a background in industrial controls, project management, and customer experience to innovate and ensure the operational efficiency of AWS infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage onsite teams in Ohio
  • Travel up to 30% domestically
  • Develop, implement, and track team goals; report to stakeholders
  • Conduct interviews and identify team needs for new hires
  • Oversee installation, programming, and troubleshooting of BMS/EPMS systems
  • Understand and interpret electrical and control diagrams and specifications
  • Manage project engineering to determine project scope
  • Develop logic diagrams for complex devices like PLCs and DCS
  • Perform inspections, testing, and commissioning of facility systems
  • Coordinate project work with internal and external departments

Required skills

  • B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field; or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of controls-related experience
  • 6+ years leading teams of controls professionals
  • Experience with industrial controls in critical environments
  • General project or vendor management experience
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Understanding of building operations and HVAC systems
  • Experience developing technical drawings and specifications
