Overview

Distinctive Staffing Solutions is seeking a talented Controls Engineer to join their dynamic team in Minneapolis. This role involves designing, programming, and commissioning advanced automation systems using cutting-edge tools such as Rockwell PLCs and Ignition SCADA, across diverse industries.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and program control systems primarily using Rockwell PLCs
  • Create intuitive HMI/SCADA applications with tools like Ignition and AVEVA
  • Integrate plant data leveraging platforms such as Canary Historian
  • Guide projects from initial concept through to startup and commissioning phases
  • Conduct FAT/SAT, troubleshoot issues, and enhance system performance
  • Collaborate directly with clients to deliver practical, high-quality solutions

Required skills

  • 37 years of experience in controls or system integration
  • Proficient in PLC programming, preferably Rockwell systems
  • Experience in SCADA/HMI development, with Ignition experience a plus
  • Understanding of industrial protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, OPC UA, and IO Link
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and conceptualize system designs
  • Willingness to travel 20-30% for commissioning tasks
  • Experience with Canary Historian or AVEVA
  • Knowledge of MQTT, Sparkplug, or IIoT architectures
  • Basic scripting or database proficiency (SQL, Python)
  • Prior experience with system integration
