Job Description

Overview

The Controller for a real estate and senior living platform in New York City will play a pivotal role in shaping financial strategy and influencing executive decision-making. This high-impact leadership position offers the opportunity to modernize finance operations while overseeing a complex, multi-site accounting function in a growth-focused organization.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and elevate the entire accounting function.
  • Oversee all core accounting operations including GL, AP/AR, payroll, and property-level accounting.
  • Own the financial close process and deliver timely, accurate GAAP reporting.
  • Strengthen internal controls, policies, and audit readiness.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to guide business decisions.
  • Manage cash flow, capital expenditures, and banking relationships.
  • Drive systems improvements and automation initiatives to modernize finance operations.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 7+ years of accounting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Experience with property-level or multi-site accounting environments.
  • Strong command of GAAP and internal controls.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with systems such as NetSuite, Yardi, Ramp, or Sage Intacct.
  • Hands-on, strategic, and collaborative leadership style.
