Overview

The Controller position at CFS is a strategic leadership role within a growth-focused organization in the real estate sector. This high-impact role involves shaping financial strategy, influencing executive decision-making, and driving the expansion of a national real estate and senior living platform while overseeing the entire accounting function.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the accounting function and ensure efficiency and accuracy across a multi-site portfolio
  • Oversee all core accounting operations including GL, AP/AR, payroll, and property-level accounting
  • Own the financial close process and deliver timely GAAP reporting
  • Strengthen internal controls, policies, and audit readiness
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to guide business decisions
  • Manage cash flow, capital expenditures, and banking relationships
  • Drive systems improvements and automation initiatives to modernize finance operations

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 7+ years of accounting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role
  • Experience with property-level or multi-site accounting environments
  • Background in senior living, healthcare, multifamily, or real estate preferred
  • Strong command of GAAP and internal controls
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with systems such as NetSuite, Yardi, Ramp, or Sage Intacct
  • Hands-on, strategic, and collaborative leadership style
