Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Controller to lead our day-to-day accounting functions and supervise our accounting staff team. Partnering directly with the President, you will oversee all financial, cost, and budgetary controls across our business units. You will be responsible for driving long-term capital strategies and optimizing balanced financial and operational performance.Core Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Accounting Close: Deliver monthly financial results by the 10th of the month, including general ledger and account reconciliations, fixed asset depreciation, and bank statement reconciliations. ERP & Accounting Process Improvement: Lead the implementation and optimization of the corporate ERP platform. Document workflows to continuously improve the efficiency and accuracy of purchasing, accounts payable, billing, and accounts receivable. Cost Accounting & Budgetary Controls: Build cost structures for all business areas to identify inefficiencies, manage budgetary controls, and collaborate with department heads to build P&L statements for individual locations and jobs. Industrial Compliance & Risk Management: Manage collections, approve credit applications, prepare lien waivers, and maintain equipment debt lists. Handle specialized compliance, including contract renewals, IFTA reporting, and quarry compliance. Operations & HR Liaison: Oversee annual insurance renewal processes (liability, property/casualty, workers' comp). Coordinate with third-party IT providers for system hardware/networking, and serve as an HR liaison supporting payroll and benefits.REQUIRES: Experience: 5 7+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience, including a minimum of 2+ years supervising an accounting staff team. Prior experience in construction, mining, or heavy industrial sectors is preferred. Core Skills: Financial Reporting & Accounting Close, ERP & Accounting Process Improvement. Domain Expertise: Strong background in cost accounting, financial data analysis, and financial project management. Tax & Regulations: Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations, including completing sales tax returns and real estate payments. Leadership: Proven ability to delegate tasks, manage an accounting staff team, and translate complex financial concepts to managers at all levels.
