Overview

CORPORATE COVERAGE COMPANY is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting operations across multiple recycling locations in Chicago and other metropolitan areas. The ideal candidate will enjoy hands-on financial work and managing a team, while ensuring compliance with internal procedures.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage accounting checklists for daily/weekly/monthly work
  • Conduct the month-end close and review financial statements
  • Manage budgets and forecasting for assigned locations
  • Analyze trends and variances; develop cost-reduction strategies
  • Supervise and develop the office accounting staff
  • Measure workload/workflow and provide cross training
  • Conduct performance reviews and train new team members
  • Support departmental hiring and special projects
  • Ensure compliance with internal procedures

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Waste & Recycling Industry experience
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Prior experience supervising direct reports
  • Strong understanding of inventory accounting
  • Experience in budgeting, variance analysis, and cost control
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially advanced Excel
  • Experience in manufacturing, recycling, or services industries is a plus
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities
