Overview

Smithville Communications is seeking a Construction Technician to join their team in Ellettsville, Indiana. This role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing services for customers using various tools and equipment, while ensuring safety and compliance. The position offers consistent year-round income with opportunities for pay increases.

Key responsibilities

  • Safely operate hand and power tools, trucks, tractors, and other heavy equipment
  • Install and maintain cable and fiber within underground conduit systems
  • Manually locate buried utility lines and ensure safety during operations
  • Use testing equipment to check for gas in utility access holes
  • Submit time reporting tasks using a laptop daily
  • Provide excellent customer service in all interactions
  • Participate in rotating on-call schedule

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Class A CDL license with a safe driving record
  • Construction experience and knowledge of heavy equipment safety
  • Competence with hand and power tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English
