Job Description

Overview

As a Data Center Construction Manager at Amazon Data Services, you will be responsible for overseeing construction projects for AWS data centers, ensuring they meet cost, schedule, and quality standards. This role involves daily interactions on-site as Amazon's owner's representative, collaborating with various teams to develop energy-efficient and cost-effective designs that support customer needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage construction project scope, quality, schedule, and budget.
  • Interface directly with construction general contractors during all project phases.
  • Conduct negotiations with general contractors and evaluate bids/proposals.
  • Create project scope and requests for proposals.
  • Perform financial analysis of construction projects.
  • Manage construction documents, including submittal review and change orders.
  • Ensure project quality control and report key construction metrics.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root-cause failure analysis related to equipment failures.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of project management experience in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure.
  • Experience with power management and monitoring systems.
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations (BOCA, NFPA, NEC, OSHA).
  • Familiarity with electrical and mechanical data center infrastructure.
  • Experience in MS Excel, Word, and Windows Operating Systems.
