Job Description

Overview

As a Construction Manager at Amazon Data Services, Inc., you will oversee construction project management for AWS data centers, ensuring that projects meet scope, quality, schedule, and budget requirements. You will collaborate with diverse teams to support AWS's extensive cloud infrastructure and be integral in the planning, execution, and closeout phases of construction projects.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage construction project scope, quality, schedule, and budget.
  • Interface with construction general contractors during all project phases.
  • Conduct negotiations and evaluate bids/proposals.
  • Create project scope and request for proposals.
  • Perform financial analysis related to construction.
  • Oversee construction document management including submittals and change orders.
  • Ensure project quality control and report key metrics.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analyses of equipment failures.
  • Read and interpret construction specifications and drawings.
  • Define system-level architecture and maintain project documentation.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in managing large, complex construction projects.
  • 6+ years of general contractor and vendor management experience.
  • Experience with large-scale technical operations or compute farms.
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations (Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, OSHA).
  • Understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles for data centers.
  • Experience with power management and monitoring systems.
  • Certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE), LEED, or Certified Construction Manager (CCM).
