Job Description

Overview

The Construction Line Technician role at SPECTRUM involves building, repairing, and maintaining HFC (hybrid fiber coax) plant systems. Technicians work both indoors and outdoors to perform complex installations, repairs, and maintenance, contributing to enhancing customer experiences.

Key responsibilities

  • Support efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
  • Perform complex installations of cable in overhead environments.
  • Prepare underground system plant for repairs, including trenching and conduit work.
  • Investigate and repair cut fiber optic cables.
  • Install equipment used to house HFC equipment and ground plant.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and third-party contractors.
  • Perform traffic control and flagging as necessary.
  • Load and unload cable equipment and tools.
  • Read complex system prints and place cable according to specifications.
  • Calculate signal losses from cable lines using signal level meters.
  • Adhere to local, state, and federal regulations.

Required skills

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Experience with hand tools such as electric drills, hammers, and screwdrivers.
  • Ability to work on all terrains and in various weather conditions.
  • Skill in climbing poles using gaffs and climbing belts.
  • Knowledge of traditional fiber architectures and Fiber Plant maintenance.
  • Ability to operate computer and test equipment associated with position.
  • Familiarity with National Electric Code and National Electrical Safety Code.
  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record.
  • 2+ years of aerial construction work experience preferred.
