Overview

R.E. Leggette Company is seeking a Lead Construction Estimator to spearhead the launch of a new division in Dearborn, MI. This full-time, office-based role demands a highly disciplined professional with the expertise to manage independent project takeoffs, establish bidding infrastructure, and oversee vendor procurement.

Key responsibilities

  • Independently review complex commercial construction blueprints and generate accurate material takeoffs.
  • Implement and optimize digital estimating software and costing databases for the new product lines.
  • Source and finalize competitive material quotes from manufacturers and distributors.
  • Prepare and finalize commercial bid packages to maximize profit margins and competitiveness.
  • Manage the division's estimating pipeline and report on performance metrics.

Required skills

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in commercial construction estimating or preconstruction engineering
  • Advanced proficiency in digital takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, On-Center/The Edge, PlanSwift)
  • Ability to manage the estimating process independently from initial review to bid submission
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with a focus on performance-based metrics
