Overview

SJS Executives LLC is seeking a Construction Engineer to support ongoing construction operations at a Federal Medical Facility in San Francisco. This full-time, on-site position requires expertise in engineering and project management, particularly in healthcare environments, and offers a competitive hourly wage along with additional benefits.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of the facility master plan for a large healthcare campus.
  • Provide engineering and technical oversight for infrastructure, renovation, and capital improvement projects.
  • Develop project requirements, scopes of work, and technical documentation for planned construction and facility upgrades.
  • Perform design reviews for various engineering projects to ensure compliance with codes and standards.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, facility personnel, and project stakeholders throughout project phases.
  • Prepare conceptual layouts, in-house designs, feasibility studies, and preliminary cost estimates.
  • Review drawings, specifications, submittals, and technical reports for accuracy.
  • Conduct site assessments and inspections to support project planning and execution.
  • Monitor ongoing construction activities for compliance with project requirements and quality standards.
  • Serve as a construction representative, documenting progress and coordinating corrective actions.
  • Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, and prioritization of facility improvement projects.
  • Provide technical recommendations related to building systems and infrastructure operations.
  • Maintain project records and documentation according to organizational standards.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or Architecture with AIA-recognized qualifications
  • Experience in facility engineering, design review, or construction administration in healthcare or large campus environm
  • Knowledge of building systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, civil, and architectural disciplin
  • Ability to review construction drawings and engineering documents for accuracy and compliance
  • Knowledge of building codes and healthcare facility requirements
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to conduct field inspections and construction observations
