Overview

The Conflicts Attorney role is a remote position for a top-tier global law firm, focusing on addressing conflicts of interest related to new work, clients, or hires. The role involves analyzing conflicts data, advising attorneys, drafting waivers, and supervising nonlawyer staff while ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Analyze results from conflicts database and outside source searches to identify potential conflicts.
  • Advise attorneys regarding conflicts clearance.
  • Draft conflicts waivers and take necessary steps to cure conflicts.
  • Supervise the work of nonlawyer conflicts staff.
  • Document or audit steps taken to clear conflicts.
  • Maintain the conflicts database with appropriate information about clients and matters.
  • Assist in new client/matter intake and the establishment of attorney-client relationships.
  • Provide on-call coverage on weekends/holidays as needed.
  • Assist with overflow anti-money laundering compliance activities.

Required skills

  • Law degree from an accredited law school
  • Bar membership in relevant jurisdiction
  • Law firm conflicts experience
  • Familiarity with Model and D.C. Rules of Professional Conduct
  • Strong legal/business research ability using online databases
  • Familiarity with modern business organization models
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to distill complex data into clear legal explanations
  • Excellent judgment and customer service focus
  • Facility with MS Office
  • Familiarity with Intapp OPEN or similar conflict clearance workflows
  • Supervisory experience or ability to instruct in a business setting
