Job Description

Overview

The Computer Field Technician role with the U.S. Navy involves training Sailors to maintain, operate, and repair sophisticated electronics and computing systems, including radar, communications, and combat systems. Technicians will serve as Electronics Technicians (ET) or Fire Controlmen (FC), contributing to the Navy's Combat Systems department aboard various ships and at technical facilities.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair radar, communication, and navigation equipment as an Electronics Technician (ET).
  • Operate, maintain, and repair fire control radars and weapon control consoles as a Fire Controlman (FC).
  • Troubleshoot complex electronic and electromechanical faults using technical documentation and test equipment.
  • Maintain configuration control, documentation, and logs to support inspections and combat system readiness.
  • Participate in hands-on technical work combining classroom training and intensive lab practice.
