Job Description

Overview

The Compliance Specialist will oversee the preparation of initial and annual recertifications for residents to ensure compliance with HUD and LIHTC regulations. This role requires coordinating with residents for interviews and inspections, maintaining accurate property records, and training personnel on income certifications.

Key responsibilities

  • Review household certifications for compliance
  • Schedule resident recertification interviews and inspections
  • Coordinate data collections and process resident information
  • Maintain property waiting lists and resident files
  • Calculate income, assets, and rent levels accurately
  • Train staff on income certifications and re-certifications
  • Review and approve move-in certifications
  • Monitor and report past due re-certifications
  • Assist in generating year-end building status reports
  • Aid office staff with administrative tasks

Required skills

  • 2+ years of experience in Affordable Housing compliance
  • Knowledge of LIHTC, Section 8, and Section 236 regulations
  • Familiarity with IRS 8823 Guide and HUD Manual 4350.3
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Yardi software knowledge
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Capable of handling physical demands related to property access
