This role provides leadership, coaching, and technical expertise to Compliance Specialists and Senior Compliance Specialists; partners with Operations, Leasing, and Asset Management to support occupancy and compliance goals; and supports the Director of Compliance by driving team performance, improving processes, and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.Responsibilities Leadership & Team ManagementSupervise, coach, and develop Compliance Specialists and Senior Compliance Specialists.Conduct regular one-on-ones and performance evaluations.Monitor workloads and assign work for balanced team capacity.Support recruiting, onboarding, and training of new team members.Identify training needs and foster a collaborative, accountable team culture.Support succession planning and employee growth within the department.Compliance OperationsOversee processing of initial certifications, annual recertifications, and unit transfers.Ensure compliance files meet company quality standards before approval.Monitor processing timelines and ensure SLAs are consistently met.Review complex compliance scenarios and escalate high-risk issues to the Director of Compliance.Regulatory ComplianceEnsure compliance with all applicable affordable housing programs, including LIHTC, HUD, HOME, the National Housing Trust Fund, Tax-Exempt Bonds, state Housing Finance Agency requirements, investor requirements, and company policy. Stay current on regulatory changes and communicate updates to the compliance team and operational partners.Quality AssurancePerform quality control reviews and file audits.Identify accuracy trends requiring additional training or process improvements.Develop corrective action plans and ensure timely completion.Assist with agency audits, investor reviews, and compliance monitoring visits.Process ImprovementIdentify opportunities to improve department efficiency and workflow.Assist in developing and maintaining department policies and procedures.Recommend process improvements and automation opportunities.Support implementation of new systems, technology, and compliance initiatives.Cross-Functional CollaborationPartner with property operations, regional managers, leasing, asset management, accounting, and development.Reporting & Performance ManagementMonitor departmental productivity and performance metrics.Prepare reports for the Director of Compliance on workload, processing times, quality assurance, and compliance trends.Assist with portfolio compliance reporting, special projects, and departmental goal setting.
