Job Description

Overview

The Community Manager - Tax Credit is a skilled administrative position responsible for managing the operations of a tax credit community in residential commercial real estate. This role involves ensuring compliance with HUD regulations, overseeing staff, and managing tenant relationships while working under the direction of the Asset Manager.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage compliance and recertification programs for Tax Credit (LIHTC) Community
  • Supervise all assigned staff and perform administrative functions related to property operations
  • Assist new residents with lease requirements and responsibilities
  • Conduct or supervise applicant background checks and recommend acceptance or rejection of applicants
  • Interview prospective residents and show available apartment units
  • Lease vacant units to approved applicants
  • Conduct eligibility examinations and re-certifications for tenants
  • Manage and maintain the waiting list of prospective residents
  • Maintain lease and accounting records, accounts receivable and delinquency records
  • Collect rents and prepare financial reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Coordinate maintenance work orders and monitor contractors delivering services

Required skills

  • At least 2 years of experience managing communities with Tax Credit programs
  • 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Bilingual communication in English and Spanish preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in Tax Credit (LIHTC) compliance, certification, and recertification
  • Certification related to LIHTC or compliance (e.g., TCS or COS)
  • Knowledge of Fair Housing laws and regulations
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to handle difficult situations
  • Proficient in MS Office and Yardi-Voyager
  • Financial and accounting acumen with the ability to read budgets and conduct financial analysis
