About the OrganizationAn established Albuquerque-based nonprofit organization is dedicated to creating stable, welcoming, and affordable multifamily communities where residents can thrive. In addition to providing quality housing, the organization supports residents through enrichment services such as food assistance, tutoring, fitness and wellness programs, and computer and financial literacy education.The organization is seeking an experienced communications professional to advance its mission through clear, accurate, and compelling written communications. This position offers the opportunity to support affordable housing development while strengthening how the organization communicates the broader community.Position SummaryThe Communications Specialist will lead written communications across external channels. This position will develop grant and funding narratives, website and social media content, reports, newsletters, press materials, and other written resources.The Communications Specialist will also improve communication workflows, maintain consistent messaging, and provide communications and administrative support for affordable housing development and other organizational priorities. While this is a writing-focused position, it also includes event coordination and introductory outreach primarily related to scheduling and logistics.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop clear, accurate, and compelling content for external audiences, including website copy, social media posts, newsletters, brochures, annual reports, presentations, award submissions, press releases, and organizational updates.Support affordable housing development and funding efforts by drafting, editing, and coordinating narratives and supporting materials for grants, Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) applications, and other submissions.Collaborate with leadership and subject-matter experts to translate technical, operational, and housing-related information into accessible materials for funders, residents, partners, public officials, and community audiences.Maintain consistent branding, voice, messaging, and factual accuracy across communications materials.Develop written materials for organizational events and ribbon-cutting ceremonies, including invitations, announcements, and related communications.Assist with event coordination and conduct introductory outreach to support scheduling and logistics.Coordinate written responses and supporting materials for media, stakeholder, resident, and partner inquiries in consultation with the supervisor.Review communications performance and recommend improvements based on organizational goals, audience needs, and channel effectiveness.Provide administrative, research, editing, proofreading, and project support for communications initiatives and other organizational priorities.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt content and tone for different audiences and purposes.Demonstrated ability to develop persuasive narratives for grants, LIHTC or other funding applications, technical documents, reports, or professional communications.Strong research skills and the ability to synthesize complex information, identify key messages, and maintain accuracy across multiple sources.Experience developing content for websites, social media, newsletters, public relations, executive communications, or nonprofit publications.Strong organizational and project-management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to independently manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a remote work environment.Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential, sensitive, or leadership-level information.Proficiency with Microsoft Office, shared digital workspaces, website content-management systems, social media platforms, and design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva.Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, leadersh
