Job Description

Overview

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Commissioning Engineer for their data centers located in Hamlet, North Carolina. The role focuses on overseeing the commissioning of critical infrastructure systems, ensuring they meet design and operational standards. The successful candidate will collaborate with various teams and have the responsibility of validating and verifying the performance of electrical and mechanical systems within AWS data centers.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide testing and validation oversight of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure
  • Review design documents and lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT)
  • Manage third-party commissioning vendors to perform onsite testing
  • Take ownership of project successes and resolve technical issues
  • Communicate lessons learned and collaborate on program improvements
  • Audit activities to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements
  • Provide comprehensive weekly reporting on project status and lessons learned

Required skills

  • 5+ years of engineering, installation, or commissioning experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong communication skills, detail-oriented, and highly organized
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical operations
