Job Description

Overview

The Commercial Underwriter at Ace Hardware will focus on underwriting the Ace Hardware Insurance Program, managing a diverse policy portfolio, and supporting the AIA team in achieving sales and servicing goals. Responsibilities include evaluating new and renewal exposures, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines, and collaborating with agents and fronting carriers.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the underwriting of the entire policy portfolio including Package, ISO BOP, WC, Auto and excess lines of coverage.
  • Evaluate new and renewal exposures to ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines.
  • Work with fronting carriers to identify agency guideline deficiencies and opportunities.
  • Champion coverage and rate changes as needed.
  • Ensure timely policy referral processes with fronting carriers.
  • Collaborate with agents to complete renewals and meet deadlines.
  • Order and evaluate reports to determine future underwriting actions.

Required skills

  • BA/BS degree in Business or Insurance, or 5+ years of Property/Casualty underwriting experience without a degree.
  • 3+ years of Property/Casualty insurance underwriting experience.
  • Possession or pursuit of CPCU or AU insurance designation.
  • Technical knowledge of commercial lines underwriting.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and make quick decisions.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Publisher.
